ABOUT

Emily Ash Powell is a writer, ideas person and crisp enthusiast who finds it much easier to write bios like this one in third person.

Emily Ash Powell is a Welsh writer living in London who, as previously mentioned, finds it very difficult to write about herself so when forced to, does so in the third person like this.

As a writer, brand strategist and creative, Emily believes in the power of doing good and having fun. She’s done both of these things through her work with some of the UK's fastest-growing DTC startups + scaleups. She has a particular love of those with big missions and great personalities, and worked with brands who change the world of pet food (tails.com), skincare (Skin + Me), men’s grooming (Harry’s), home decoration (Lick), fresh flowers (Freddie’s Flowers), chocolate (Tony’s Chocolonely) and relationships (Bumble).

Emily also likes big brands (and she cannot lie). She’s written words and had ideas for brilliant brands like IKEA, Virgin Voyages, The Economist, Disney, John Lewis, Marvel, Virgin Holidays, ASDA, P&G, Bacardi, Volkswagen and more.

In 2022, she won the Women In Marketing Highly Commended Copywriter Award.

Beyond the brands, Emily writes words for publications like Refinery29, Cosmopolitan, Huffpost, Stylist, Metro, Campaign Magazine and others on the topics of work, love, women, dogs and life.

She is the author of Hurdling, the regular(ish) Substack newsletter that looks at (and celebrates) how we get over all the obstacles that stand in our way. Emily peeks behind the scenes of the highlights reel we all produce for our lives and explores the messy bits, the things gone wrong, the lessons we’ve learned and with real stories, honest thoughts and unfiltered reflections.

In 2021, she teamed up with Dave Buonaguidi (aka, Real Hackney Dave) to create the I Want To Eat Crisps With You series, which appeared at The Other Art Fair.

She is currently working on her first book.
